Great places we visited! Too hard to see the VR guide though, as watching a cellphone screen in daytime is very difficult. The audio wasn't always working either. Note to the company: please fix the broken seats on the busses! Some people were fighting for seats during our tour...

Very short time to visit the site and museum, either one or the other. The system of autopsy is not very expeditious, using redundant telephones. There are currently simpler means to use. Narrow and uncomfortable bus. Excellent staff

The living guide who accompanied us on the trip was cordial, interesting, and helpful. The virtual tour was annoying with its unnecessary gamesmanship.

This was a fantastic day trip to the archeological site and museum. First and foremost, never felt rushed at the site. We had plenty of time to walk around and take in the ruins. The bus ride was comfortable, and major props to the bus driver for getting us around the tight turns, especially in Arachovo. Thanos was our guide, and he was very nice and infromative. I only wish he would snap his fingers every so often (that's an Avengers joke for you). After the site, we had a lovely time at a restaurant to take in drinks with a view. And the VR stuff? It was cool at first, but slowly we got tired of looking at the screens and felt better off just reading the plaques.

Getting started with your Delphi VR audio guide

  • Before your visit: Make sure your phone is fully charged if you’re using the VR app version, or confirm that your headset will be provided on-site as part of your booking. Most Delphi VR tours include preloaded devices, so there’s no need to download anything in advance.
  • Check your booking details: Your confirmation email will list the pickup time, meeting point in Athens, and whether your headset is issued before or upon arrival in Delphi. Be sure to arrive 10 to 15 minutes early for boarding.
  • During the briefing: At Delphi, your escort or on-site staff will explain how to wear and operate the headset. The system is intuitive; you’ll simply select your language, adjust volume, and use the controls to pause or replay sections.
  • Using the VR headset: Put on the lightweight headset and follow the guided prompts. Each stop along the archaeological route will trigger a VR reconstruction, showing temples, statues, and the Oracle as they once appeared.
  • Combining audio and visuals: The multilingual audio narration syncs with your visuals, helping you understand what you’re seeing and connecting the reconstructed world with the ruins in front of you.
  • Exploring comfortably: You can move freely between points of interest, pause the guide to take photos, and replay scenes as you wish. The headset is designed to work even in bright sunlight, though shaded viewing spots make for better visibility.
  • Returning the device: If your tour includes a preloaded headset, you’ll hand it back to the escort or staff after the museum visit. For app-based experiences, you can keep access for a limited time to revisit the tour content.

Pro-tips to get the most out of your VR audio tour

  • Adjust the headset straps for a snug but comfortable fit, and use the focus dial to sharpen the visuals before starting the tour.
  • Pause playback when moving between monuments, as some paths are uneven and steep, and the VR visuals are best experienced while standing still.
  • The narration syncs with key locations like the Temple of Apollo, the Athenian Treasury, and the Theatre, so follow the suggested order for the most immersive storytelling.
  • Bring your own wired earphones if you prefer, since some users find the provided earbuds less comfortable for longer sessions.
  • Keep a small microfiber cloth handy to wipe the lenses, especially during warmer months when humidity can fog the display.
  • If you wear glasses, you can keep them on during the VR tour; the headset design accommodates most standard frames.
  • Keep an eye on the battery level if using your own device; VR tours typically last 1.5 to 2 hours and may require moderate power.
  • Take short breaks between segments to rest your eyes and enjoy the real surroundings, especially near open viewpoints like the Theatre or Stadium.
  • Morning tours are ideal for the VR experience since the lighting is softer, and fewer groups mean more time to focus without distractions.
