The tour was great, and our tour guide, Mikael, was amazing. He made the whole tour super dynamic. I highly recommend the tour. Once in Delphi, if the weather is nice, I recommend going up to the stadium, we only had like 40 minutes to go up and back to the museum but it was enough if you have a light peace. The views are amazing from up there. The lunch was prolably the weakest point of the tour. To be honest it was nice for being part of th tour but not great for Greek standards I would say. But I guess Arachova (where you stop to eat) does not have that many other options The pictures are views from the up the sanctuary of Delphi (on the way back from th stadium) and the second one of the views from the clock tower of Arachova. As you can see both views are amazing

We thought our guide Georgia was great, as well as the driver. Only wish is we had more time to explore Arachova - traffic in Athens and a long wait at the Delphi museum limited our time there. Unfortunately we were there in the rain, but still enjoyable.

Great places we visited! Too hard to see the VR guide though, as watching a cellphone screen in daytime is very difficult. The audio wasn't always working either. Note to the company: please fix the broken seats on the busses! Some people were fighting for seats during our tour...

The living guide who accompanied us on the trip was cordial, interesting, and helpful. The virtual tour was annoying with its unnecessary gamesmanship.

It took a bit to sort out the audio tour at the site especially. It didn't always register which stop we were at. But once we found out #1-5 were closed to tourists, we could then follow the correct stops. Information was great and help a lot to understand the site and museum. We only had about 3 hours there, so the audio was perfect.

I loved that audio guide was geo- located so it picked up the commentary from my location. Enough detail to not be overwhelming.

Why a small-group Delphi tour is the smarter way to explore

✔️ Personalized experience: Travel with only 16 to 20 guests, giving your guide the time to share deeper insights, answer questions, and tailor commentary to the group’s interests.

✔️ Comfortable travel: Enjoy the journey in a luxury minibus with air-conditioning, onboard Wi-Fi, and scenic views of Mount Parnassus, without the crowds or long boarding lines.

✔️ Smooth logistics: Smaller groups mean faster boarding, shorter stops, and more time exploring Delphi’s landmarks and museum without feeling rushed.

✔️ Enhanced storytelling: With fewer distractions, your guide can bring ancient myths, the Oracle’s prophecies, and the history of Apollo’s sanctuary to life in a relaxed setting.

✔️ Authentic local moments: Stop in Arachova Village to browse shops, taste local specialties, and enjoy the mountain charm that larger tours often skip over.

✔️ Hassle-free planning: Every detail is taken care of, including transfers, entry tickets, and guided access, so you can simply relax and enjoy the scenery.

A relaxed start in central Athens

Begin your day with an easy pickup from central Athens locations such as Syntagma Square, Omonia, or Halandri metro station. Meet your small group and driver, then settle into a comfortable, air-conditioned minibus with Wi-Fi as you set out on the scenic drive to Delphi.

Scenic drive through the Greek countryside

Enjoy the changing landscapes as you travel north toward Mount Parnassus. Your escort or guide shares insights about Greek history, mythology, and modern life, setting the tone for the stories you will encounter in Delphi.

Guided exploration of Delphi’s ancient heart

On arrival, follow your licensed guide or audio narration through the archaeological site, including the Temple of Apollo, the Athenian Treasury, and the Sacred Way. With fewer people in your group, there is time to pause, ask questions, and take in the views at your own pace.

A journey through the Delphi Museum

Step inside the Delphi Archaeological Museum to see remarkable artifacts such as the Charioteer of Delphi and offerings dedicated to Apollo. Your guide explains the meaning behind these treasures and how they connect to the myths you have just explored outdoors.

Free time to unwind in Arachova Village

After visiting Delphi, stop in Arachova, a charming mountain town known for its stone houses, handmade textiles, and local cafés. You will have time to stroll, shop, or simply enjoy a coffee with views of the valley before heading back to Athens.

Comfort and connection throughout the day

Throughout the tour, your guide ensures a friendly and engaging experience. With a small group size, conversations flow easily, stops are well-paced, and everyone feels part of a shared journey rather than a crowd.

Smooth return to Athens

As the day winds down, relax on the return drive, reflecting on the myths, monuments, and moments that made Delphi come alive. You’ll arrive back in Athens by evening, with time left to enjoy dinner in the city or a quiet night after a day well spent.

Things to know before booking your Delphi tour

  • Small-group tours typically host between 16 to 20 participants, allowing for smoother logistics, faster boarding, and a more comfortable pace throughout the journey.
  • You can choose between a guided tour or one with an escort/driver, depending on your preference. Guided tours include in-depth commentary at the Delphi archaeological site and Museum, while escorted tours emphasize comfort, smooth transfers, and local insights along the route.
  • All tours include round-trip transfers from central Athens, with convenient pickup points near major landmarks such as Syntagma Square, Omonia, Karaiskaki Square, and the Halandri metro station. Pickup times are provided during checkout, so confirm the stop closest to your accommodation for a seamless start.
  • All tours include entry to both the Delphi archaeological site and Museum, allowing you to explore the Temple of Apollo, the Treasury of the Athenians, and the world-renowned Charioteer of Delphi without needing to purchase additional tickets.
  • Some tours include multilingual commentary, while others are conducted exclusively in English. Confirm your preferred language when booking to ensure availability.
  • Every itinerary features a stop in Arachova village, giving you time to stroll its cobbled streets, browse local crafts, and relax at a café overlooking Mount Parnassus.
  • Lunch and meal options vary depending on the tour selected. Some itineraries include a traditional Greek lunch, while others offer time for independent dining in local taverns.
  • Be sure to book your small-group tour in advance, especially from April to October, as limited group sizes mean spaces fill quickly during the high travel season.
  • Delphi is not accessible for wheelchairs or those with mobility challenges. The site features uneven paths, stone steps, and sloped terrain, so comfortable shoes and steady footing are essential for enjoying the visit safely.

Plan your perfect Delphi trip

Tourists listening to guide at ancient ruins in Delphi, Greece during day trip.
  • March to May: Spring is one of the most rewarding times to visit, with wildflowers carpeting the slopes of Mount Parnassus and comfortable daytime temperatures around 15 to 22°C. It’s ideal for exploring the site on foot and enjoying clear views without summer crowds.
  • June to August (high season): Summer brings longer opening hours and reliable sunshine, but also higher temperatures that can exceed 30°C by midday. Early morning or late afternoon tours are best during this period to avoid the heat and large group visits.
  • September to October: Autumn offers warm, dry weather and fewer tourists. Olive groves below Delphi turn silvery-gold, and Arachova’s cafés begin serving heartier local dishes as the evenings cool.
  • November to February: Winter is the off-season, with fewer visitors and cooler temperatures between 8 and 15°C. Though daylight is limited, it’s the best time for those who prefer a quiet experience or want to combine Delphi with skiing in Arachova.
  • Guided day tours: The easiest and most time-efficient option is a guided day tour with round-trip transfers from central Athens. Most tours depart from Syntagma Square, Omonia, or Halandri metro station, using air-conditioned coaches or minibuses that drop you directly at the archaeological site.
  • By public bus (KTEL): Regular KTEL buses run from the Athens Liosion Bus Station to Delphi about four times daily. The trip takes roughly 3 hours each way, and tickets cost around €17 to €20 per direction.
  • By private transfers or taxi: Private transfers and taxis from Athens offer flexibility and comfort, with the added benefit of customized stops along the way, such as Hosios Loukas Monastery or Arachova Village, though they are more expensive than group tours or public buses.
  • By car: Driving from Athens takes about 2.5 hours (185km) via the E75 highway and Arachova. Parking near the site is limited, especially during summer weekends.
Minibus used for transfers during Private Montenegro Tour & Boat Ride.
  • Round-trip transfers from central Athens in air-conditioned minibuses
  • Comfortable seating with panoramic windows and onboard Wi-Fi
  • Licensed English-speaking driver or tour guide
  • Personal headsets for clear guided commentary
  • Virtual reality or multilingual audio guide options
  • Scenic stop in Arachova Village for sightseeing or refreshments
  • Bottled water and light refreshments available onboard

Insider tips to make the most of your day

  • Start early in the morning (by 7:30 to 8am) to enjoy cooler temperatures, softer light for photography, and fewer tour groups on the Sacred Way.
  • Wear shoes with a good grip, as the marble and stone paths at Delphi can be slippery, especially in the early morning or after light rain.
  • Carry small cash for local cafés or shops near the exit since some smaller establishments in Delphi and Arachova may not accept cards.
  • Bring a reusable water bottle and refill it at the taps near the site entrance since there are no vending machines or cafés inside the archaeological zone.
  • Bring a light jacket even in summer, as Delphi’s altitude means the temperature can drop quickly once the sun sets behind Mount Parnassus.
  • The best panoramic view of the valley and olive groves is from the **top tier near the Ancient Stadium, a spot often overlooked because of the steep climb required to reach it.
  • Allocate **extra time for the walk between the museum and the Tholos of Athena Pronaia, which sits in a separate sanctuary area about 10 to 15 minutes downhill from the main site.
  • Download or carry a detailed site map since signposts are minimal in some areas, and it helps in tracing the order of monuments along the Sacred Way.
  • Photography is permitted throughout the site and museum, but tripods are not allowed without special permission from the Greek Ministry of Culture.
  • Restrooms are located near the main entrance and inside the museum, so plan your visit accordingly before walking up to the higher terraces.
