Finding the right base in Delphi
Understand Delphi’s layout
Delphi is a small, compact town perched on the slopes of Mount Parnassus, overlooking the Pleistos Valley. The town is very walkable, and most hotels are located along the main road that leads toward the archaeological site. Because of the elevation and layout, many accommodations offer sweeping views of the valley or mountains—something you might want to prioritize.
Proximity to the Archaeological site
If your main purpose is visiting the ancient ruins, you may want to choose a hotel near the eastern edge of town, closer to the entrance of the Sanctuary of Apollo and the Museum. From most places, however, the site is less than a 10–15-minute walk away.
What kind of stay do you want?
Delphi offers everything from modest guesthouses to 5-star hotels. Expect a mix of traditional Greek hospitality and modern amenities. Many places, even budget options, offer rooms with balconies and valley views. On the luxury end, you’ll find boutique hotels and resorts with spas, restaurants, and premium valley-facing suites. Prices typically range from €40–€160 per night depending on the season.
Timing and seasonality
Delphi is busiest between April and October, especially during spring and summer weekends. During these months, booking in advance is highly recommended—especially if your visit coincides with the Delphi Festival or local holidays. In off-season months (November to March), many hotels remain open, and you’ll find lower prices and fewer tourists.
